Laura is an experienced equine vet, specialising in veterinary chiropractic for horses and dogs. Laura is accredited by, and registered with the IVCA, having sat (and passed!) a very gruelling exam!
Laura is now also trained in myofascial release - a very gentle but very effective technique.
Having grown up with her own horses, both pleasure and competition, she knows how important it is to keep them happy, pain free and performing to the best of their ability.
Whether you have a specific problem, or would just like peace of mind from a routine check over, appointments are tailored to each individual animal.
Being a vet herself, Laura is in the perfect position to liaise with your own vet with regards to the best line of treatment or rehabilitation programme.
Veterinary chiropractic specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the spine and joints. Your horse or dog will be reviewed through gait analysis, and both static and motion palpation to ensure a thorough examination. Chiropractic is a manual therapy often used to treat back pain where areas of restriction are found, and to improve posture, mobility and performance. Small adjustments are made to 'motion units' where 'subluxations' are found to realign them, and return them to normal movement and physiological function, in turn reducing areas of compensation elsewhere in the body.
Chiropractic not only works on the joints and the bones, but also on the muscular and neurological systems by using the bodies own healing ability to improve general health.
Treatment should not be uncomfortable for your animal, in fact most find it very relaxing! Following treatment Laura can work closely with your vet to plan a suitable rehabilitation programme.
What conditions and problems can Veterinary Chiropractic help? Chiropractic can help all sorts of issues including:
Chiropractic is also very useful in dogs. From the agility competitor to the beloved geriatric pet. Whether it be to provide pain relief from a condition such as hip dysplasia, assist in rehabilitation from a traumatic injury, a general MOT or to keep a competitor in top condition, all animals can benefit.
